Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Prevention & Control Policy
For
SHIFTING STONES
All of us have been affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. I hope that you and your family are and remain safe and healthy.
I have missed being able to offer you the treatments that I know you love, and I am looking forward to seeing you again soon.
My priority is to keep you as safe as possible and, prior to re-opening the Treatment Room, I have implemented a number of changes which I would like to make you aware of. During the time the Treatment Room has been closed, I have completed the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Prevention and Control course which is accredited by the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists Ltd, the UK trade body for our industry. I have also completed the Barbicide COVID-19 Certification course. I have since made a number of changes in the way that I operate that you will notice when you next visit.
Booking Appointments
If I feel ill or have symptoms of COVlD-19, however slight they may feel, I will self-isolate immediately and not come into the Treatment Room. This may mean that I have to cancel your appointment at short notice. I appreciate that this may be inconvenient and sometimes disappointing, but it is done entirely for your own safety. If your appointment is cancelled you will be able to re-book at time of cancellation, or another time more suitable for you.
If you or any of the people you live with feel ill or display any symptoms of COVlD-19 – please advise me as soon as possible and do not come to the Treatment Room for your appointment. You will not be charged for any appointments which you miss due to illness. As I understand the Scottish Government guidelines, if I have been in contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19 within 48 hours of our meeting, then I will be asked to self-isolate for 14 days, regardless of whether or not I show any symptoms. This will mean having to once again close the Treatment Room and cancel all appointments within that 14-day isolation period. So please carefully consider whether or not you have symptoms, however slight, and cancel your appointment if you are in any doubt.
Visiting the Treatment Room
For your safety and to maintain social distancing, I ask that you attend your appointments as close to the appointment time as possible. Please do not turn up early for appointments as this may mean that you come into contact with other clients who are leaving. I have increased the time between clients to minimise the risk of clients meeting and also to allow me time to properly clean the Treatment Room between clients.
I have increased the frequency of cleaning of common surfaces, toilets door handles etc. ensuring that they are wiped clean using disinfectant products, between each client.
All tools and equipment will be disinfected or sterilised in line with the specific manufacturers’ instructions.
Wherever possible I will utilise environmentally friendly, single use items during a treatment that will be disposed of safely after use, in order to protect you from cross infection.
You will have access to soap and hot water to wash your hands as soon as you enter the building, and I will also have hand sanitiser available for you to use when you come into the Treatment Room.
Wearing of face coverings may become mandatory in enclosed spaces and so I would appreciate if you could wear a face covering when you visit the Treatment Room. You can also wear disposable gloves if you wish. I will have disposable face coverings available for your use should you not bring one with you.
It could be that I may not be able to offer a complete range of services for a while, please bear with me as I will re-introduce all services as soon as I am advised that it is safe to do so.
I will be wearing a face covering and possibly a visor and disposable gloves during your visit and during your treatment. Please accept that this is for your safety and is hopefully a temporary measure.
I can confirm that the laundering of salon towels and uniforms is a priority and is carried out within industry guidelines.
All disposable items are bagged and safely removed from the treatment area between each client.
My treatments
I have carried out a risk assessment on all treatments and I will continue to safely provide the ones that I can, and add in treatments as appropriate and safe to do so, possibly with the use of PPE as described above.
During your treatment
I understand the importance of hand hygiene and I will ensure that I wash my hands in accordance with NHS recommendations between clients and will also use hand sanitiser before the start and at the end of your treatment.
I will try to make your treatment as safe, comfortable and enjoyable as possible. If you have any concerns about your treatment, please let me know and I will do what I can to satisfy you.
After the treatment
In order to avoid handling of cash, I would prefer if you could pay for your treatment by card whenever possible.
All of these procedures have been implemented for your safety and mine. I will continue to take advice from the Scottish Government, NHS Scotland and the Beauty Guild regarding safe practice and will amend them as necessary.
Thanks you for your understanding.
